Roll Grinder Control UpgradesTechnik offers the Kleinknecht GPC2 Grinding Process Control retrofit and upgrade for Waldrich Siegen and other roll grinders using older proprietary electrical controls. In many cases, replacement parts for these older controllers are unavailable or unaffordable, and a modern control system based on off-the-shelf components is needed to ensure maximum reliability and uptime.
The GPC2 Phase 1 retrofit is based on a Siemens S7 PLC control and is the only PLC-based control retrofit upgrade available for most roll grinders. It replaces the CNC and PLC systems and includes a new PC or QNX based operator panel, new main and axle drives, and all associated wiring and programming. Additional phases are available that can be performed at the same time as the GPC2 retrofit or at any later time. Available options include the replacement of all servo drives, AC and DC motors, measuring equipment, and a complete mechanical retrofit.
